If you were at the Adelaide Film Festival in
February of this year, you would have seen the completely inspirational
documentary "Peace One Day". Since then a dedicated team of people from all over
Adelaide have been going crazy bringing together all sorts of events, liaising
with
Peace One Day in the UK, networking with equally as passionate individuals and
organisations such as Carclew, Save the Children, the Global Education Centre,
the Department of Environment and Heritage, Adelaide Institute of TAFE and
various church groups just to name a few, and generally generally gathering
interest for this amazing project.

Schools for Peace
10am
- 12.30pm Torrens Building, 220 Victoria Square, City
There was no way we could celebrate and
raise awareness of Peace One Day without involving the kids! Together with
Save the Children, the Global Education Centre
and DECS we have come up with a mini festival for primary school
children, involving activities around the themes of peace, environment,
unity and culture. There will be an opening
ceremony with Drum Atweme and the Gilles Street Primary School Taiko
Drumming group, several activities and a closing ceremony. 6 schools will be
involved for this inaugural event.
A Schools
for Peace Information Pack including curriculum advice and activity ideas
so even the
schools not attending the event
at the Torrens Building can still honour
the day by doing activities within their school and classroom.
If you have any feedback, questions,
suggestions or comments, please let us know via the email address below, and we
hope to see you at the events!
